The full LED headlights, arrow scoops, and 20-inch wheels with Brembo callipers accentuate its dynamic presence. Optional colours, priced at $700, contribute to the visual appeal. The controversial design becomes captivating, especially in person, raising questions about its true Mustang essence.
Interior Comfort and Technology
Stepping into the Mach-E reveals a well-crafted interior, blending technology and design seamlessly. The textured material and ergonomic touchpoints exude a premium feel. The centrepiece is a 15.5-inch infotainment screen with integrated controls, offering Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. These power a single electric motor in RWD Select and Premium trims, or a motor on each axle in AWD variations of all four trims. Those motors combine to produce 480 horsepower and up to 634 pound-feet of torque in the top GT and GT Performance Edition variants, which only come with AWD. A Mach-E GT Performance hit 60 mph in 3.7 seconds in our tests. Less powerful rear-wheel-drive variants produce 266 or 290 horsepower and 317 pound-feet of torque. The AWD grades below the California Route 1 and GT pair produce 266 to 346 horsepower and 427 or 428 pound-feet of torque.
Charging and Range
With a 91 kWh battery capacity, the Mach-E supports AC and DC charging, with a max charging speed of 150 kW. The WLTP-rated driving range of nearly 500 km positions it competitively, although the charging speed may face scrutiny compared to rivals in the EV segment.
On the Road
In terms of performance, the Mach-E GT falls short of its claimed 0-100 km/h time, clocking at 5.49 seconds. While displaying impressive braking capabilities, the handling and acceleration characteristics left room for improvement, with torque tapering in spirited driving conditions.
