2024 Kia Telluride X-Pro Review, Prices and Specs

If there is one car that has been causing a stir in the automotive market, It’s the Kia Telluride. The telluride is built on the same platform as the Hyundai Palisade. It comes in four different variants LX, S, EX, and SX. Today we are exploring the off-road version of it called the X-Pro. This model features a rugged look outside and also provides a luxurious and spacious interior. The 2024 Kia Telluride X-Pro is Powered by a petrol V6 engine and priced at around $53,000 with the entire range starting at around 36 grand. it competes with the likes of the Hyundai Palisade, the Mazda CX-90, and the Nissan Pathfinder.

Exterior

On the exterior, the Kia Telluride offers 64 colour options to choose from. However, there are optional colours that come with a price tag of $500. at the Front bottom, the Kia Telluride X-pro features a big grille. Interestingly, the grille is actually closed off, so you can see it’s really there just for design purposes as opposed to cooling in other cars.

Also on the front, you get A new Kia logo, a 360 camera, a bit of piano black styling, radar sensors, and black skirting. A set of full LED headlights with these orange running lights are also available making it look really cool when you are driving along. The Xpro rides on a big old set of all-terrains sitting on 18-inch alloy wheels.

Now, the all-terrains, they’re an interesting choice because this is obviously a family SUV, but when you do go down the path of the X-Pro, it features a sort of off-road specification. It has slightly higher ground clearance at a little over 200 mm. In addition to that, you have a centre diff lock and self-levelling rear springs.  Additional features include; Body-colored wing mirrors with an indicator built into them, a camera, roof rails, and a privacy glass.

On the rear end, the X-pro features LED tail lights, additional lights and reflectors down the bottom as well. The X-Pro badge is also available at the back and a set of dual exhaust pipes featuring a piano black finish. It also has a digital rear-view camera as well and a shark fin aerial up the top.

Interior

Stepping inside, It’s fascinating because the Kia Telluride X-Pro has premium features and design elements. It also comes with a new version of the key, which you’ll find in the new EV9. Also, you’ve got a push-button start just there. In terms of the appearance though, it actually does feel quite nice and premium. It features a wood grain trim that runs along the dashboard.

The Kia comes with the new version of this infotainment system you will find in the EV9. However, this doesn’t have features like wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Unfortunately, You have to plug a cable in for those, whereas the latest version of this infotainment system has solved that and added all of those functions. But it does still appear quite nicely and it is all integrated into that single display there.

Also available is a brushed aluminium switchgear down the bottom, and traditional buttons, It doesn’t have that switchable menu as you find in Sportage and some of the newer Kia models.

Now, in terms of the infotainment system, this has all of the features we’ve come to like from other Kia models, two 12.3-inch displays.

This system is easy to use and When it comes to comfort features, you’ve got USB-A and USB-C connectivity, a 12-volt outlet and a wireless phone charging. Other features include a dual-zone automatic climate control for the front, a heated steering wheel, and heated and cooled seats as well.

In terms of safety and driver assistant features, you have autonomous emergency braking with pedestrian and cyclist detection. A digital mirror, a lane departure warning with a lane-keeping assistant, radar cruise control, and a 360 camera with front and rear parking sensors.

Second Row

The Kia Telluride has a six-seat configuration, which means you’ve got two captain’s chairs instead of a bench seat. In terms of room, it offers a good knee room not forgetting the toe room is great and headroom is plenty. The seat does move forwards and backwards, so you can get a little bit more room for the third row. electric seat adjustment there, sun shades that you can pop up for a little bit of privacy are also available.

Two USB ports (USB-C integrated into the backs of the seats) and a mat pocket for all your accessories are included, along with two more USB ports, a 12-volt outlet, a household plug, rear air vents with a third zone of climate control, and second-row heated and cooled seats.

Third Row

In the Third row, To enter, simply press the small button located at the top of the seat, which will cause it to fold flat. Once inside, you have enough space to spread out and become somewhat comfortable. It is a standard third-row area. For longer trips, it could be a little uncomfortable if you plan to bring a full-size adult along. There’s a USB port, cup holders, and a little storage cubby. Thus, having those conveniences is a positive thing. Everyone has their own small sector thanks to the back air vents as well. This back is a little tight, but it’s not too bad for the third row.

Boot

To access the cargo space, the Kia Telluride offers a hands-free tailgate. with the third row up, you can expect to have about 600 litres of cargo capacity; with the second row down, that number rises to nearly 2000 litres. Thus, it is fairly roomy. You also have a little bit of extra storage underneath the boot floor. That kind of adaptability is useful, particularly for longer travels or with greater cargo.

Engine and Power

Under the hood, the Kia Telluride X-Pro features. a 3.8L naturally aspirated 6-cylinder petrol engine. this powertrain delivers 217 kW of power and 355 Nm of torque to all the wheels via an 8-speed- automatic transmission system. While it’s not a huge amount of power, the engine has a good sound.

One significant difference between the Telluride and the Palisade is that the Telluride is available in all-wheel drive, which provides better traction, especially in rough conditions. The torque distribution is predominantly to the front wheels, but it can send power to the rear as needed.

Fuel Economy

In terms of fuel economy, it’s a bit thirsty, averaging around 15.1 miles per gallon, though the official figure is a little over 11 litres per 100 kilometres. Hopefully, Kia will develop a hybrid version down the line to improve fuel efficiency.

Driving and Driving Modes

The Kia Telluride X-Pro offers various drive modes, including Comfort, Sport, Smart, Eco, and Snow. While on the road, The V6 engine is quite peppy, but it’s also smooth and refined. The suspension feels comfortable and absorbs most bumps pretty well. The Kia Telluride X-pro offers a smooth and quiet drive, making it pleasant for long journeys.

Off-road

In terms of off-road capabilities, the X-Pro handles off-roading pretty well, thanks to those all-terrain tires and the slightly higher ground clearance. The center diff lock and self-leveling rear springs come in handy when you’re tackling rougher terrain. It’s not a hardcore off-roader, but it can handle dirt roads and trails without much fuss.

Towing Capacity

For towing, the Kia Telluride X-Pro offers a tow mode with a capacity of around 2500 kilograms, along with helper springs on the rear to maintain balance when towing heavy loads.
