2026 Lexus ES: What We Know

Even if the ES was introduced in 2018, Lexus isn’t yet prepared to introduce a new model. A new upgrade has just been released in China, after the 2021 redesign. The LX 700h and the updated luxury sedan made their debut at the Auto Guangzhou show. The ES has sold over a million units, making it a huge deal in the area.

Exterior Changes

On the outside, a lot has changed, even though it’s simply another makeover. The RX served as the inspiration for a fresh pattern on the corporate spindle grille. The dual “L-shaped” pattern of those matrix LED headlights accentuates the front fascia. In order to stay up to date with design trends, Lexus couldn’t pass up the chance to add a light bar to the back. The upgraded taillights now have that “L” graphic integrated into them as well.

Interior Updates

Inside, the updated ES for China receives a 14-inch touchscreen, which unfortunately devoured the climate controls. As a result, the centre console contains fewer physical buttons and a reworked gear lever “more in line with the usage habits of young Chinese customers.” Customers can customize the luxurious car with a Snowy Night White inside or a two-tone Tanzanite Snow Night. The Silver Lance Moon Ridge trim completes the interior upgrades.

Potential U.S. Market Impact

It is unknown whether the ES for the United States will gain from these changes. The Mercedes E-Class competitor has already begun the 2025 model year, so this second facelift is unlikely to arrive before the 2026 MY. Lexus’ choice to alter the existing model once more suggests that the car will be around for a few more years before the eighth generation arrives. When the time comes, anticipate the redesigned ES to substantially take from the most recent Toyota Camry.

Looking Ahead

Meanwhile, the 2024 Los Angeles Auto Show begins next week, and we might see the 2026 Lexus ES there.
