The Subaru WRX is a well-known Rally sports compact car that has been produced for more than 30 years. A brand-new Subaru WRX with a complete model change will debut in 2022 with the goal of improving driving dynamics and maximizing performance.
Not only that, but the New WRX has also gotten a more aggressive, flamboyant look. The WRX family has expanded to include a new GT trim level. Exterior styling
The 2023 Subaru WRX appears to sport a wide-body design from the outside. The front is where it all begins, with a broad front hood scoop, a well-fitted hexagonal grille that is distinctively Subaru, and LED headlights. All of this contributes to the new WRX’s bold and muscular appearance.
For 2022, the front fenders are also constructed of aluminium, which is claimed to reduce the weight of the sports sedan by 50 pounds. The sports sedan also has pronounced character lines all over that further stress its capacity for strength and pure performance. The new WRX has integrated taillights that glow like volcanic magma and a low-profile rear spoiler at the back.
Interior
The 2022 Subaru WRX’s interior is all-black with red contrast stitching and carbon fibre elements as you step inside. A flat-bottomed leather-wrapped steering wheel with well-integrated audio, voice recognition, and vision control buttons is another characteristic of the sporty sedan. Moreover, standard features include power door locks, side mirrors, and windows with auto up/down on both the driver’s and passenger’s sides of the vehicle.
Infotainment and connectivity features
In terms of infotainment, the 2023 WRX has a large screen display that measures 11.6 inches and is mounted vertically in the cockpit. The driver can easily control both the climate and the stereo system from here. Furthermore, the multimedia features include both Android Auto and Apple Car Play as standard, as well as an 11-speaker Harman Kardon sound system.
Engine, Power and Transmission
Subaru claims that the new platform will improve the ride and handling of the 2023 Subaru WRX. Under the hood, the WRX features a more powerful 2.4 litre turbocharged flat four-cylinder engine. This engine produces 271 horsepower and 258 pounds-feet of torque through a six-speed manual transmission with optimized and refined gear ratios to improve shift quality.
A new Subaru Performance Automatic Transmission is also available for the WRX in 2023, offering up to 30% faster upshifts and 50% faster downshifts. Those who opt for the automatic transmission can also control and select three driving modes via a set of paddle shifters on the steering wheel. The 2023 WRX model comes standard with all-wheel drive, which is a Subaru WRX tradition. It also comes with a set of 17 or 18-inch summer performance wheels.
Subaru WRX GT trim level
Surprisingly, a new GT trim-level model joins the Subaru WRX lineup in 2023. It is powered by the same 2.4-litre turbocharged engine. The GT model has electronically controlled adaptive dampers in comfort, normal, and sporty settings to provide a dynamic performance. The GT’s driver and passenger seats now have more support for high-performance driving. The driver’s seat has an 8-way power adjustment as well. The WRX GT rides on 18-inch matte grey aluminium alloy wheels with summer performance tires.
Safety and Driver assistance features
All trims include EyeSight Driver Assist Technology, which has been enhanced with an expanded field of view and software performance improvements to provide a wider range of operations. Furthermore, the electric brake booster improves responsive braking and emergency stop performance.
A new Lane Departure Prevention function is also available to provide more natural and smoother assistance. Advanced Adaptive Cruise Control with Lane Centering has been added to the EyeSight system’s feature set. Automatic Emergency Steering and Pre-Collision Braking Systems are also available at speeds less than 50 mph to assist with steering control and help avoid a collision.
Price
The price of the 2023 WRX begins at $31,625 for the base trim model this includes destination, which is a $1525 increase over the 2022 model. Step up to the top-tier GT trim, and you’ll pay nearly $45,000 for it.
