The first-generation Mazda CX-5 was produced back in 2012 for 2013 model year line up. the CX-5 is built on the same platform as the Axela and the Atenza.
The CX-5 is attractively styled inside and out, a departure from rivals’ rather utilitarian appearances. It is an exceptional car aesthetically and this attracts a lot of people to it.
Not only does it boast beautifully sculpted bodywork, but it’s also interior is just as interesting to the eyes.

Here are the key changes for the Mazda CX-5 over the last few years:

•2017- fully redesigned with more powerful base engine, newly standard infotainment system and rearview camera, and drop in cargo space, manual transmission discontinued.
• 2018- Added standard blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert; several driver assistance features gained expanded availability.
• 2019- Turbocharged engine, diesel engine, Android Auto and Apple Carplay became available; Grand Touring Reserve and Signature trim debuted; ventilated front seats, parking sensors and a surround-view parking camera system became available.
• 2020- Adaptive cruise control, pedestrian detection, lane keep assist and automatic high-beam headlights added to standard features list; 8-inch touch screen became optional; turbocharged engine gained more torque.

Most CX-5s work with a 2.5-litre naturally-aspirated four-pot. The base four-cylinder develops 187hp and 186lb-ft and with help from a six-speed automatic, it’s offered with FWD and AWD. If you opt for Grand Touring Reserve or Signature trims, you’ll find a 2.5-litre turbo-four under the hood. That engine is only offered with AWD and it generates 250hp and 320lb-ft.

inside the top-tier CX-5 models, you might think you have been abducted by kidnappers driving a Mercedes. It boasts of an interior that is very luxurious, a pleasant surprise for this price range, where one could be forgiven for expecting a lot less.
Air conditioning, remote keyless entry, cloth-trimmed seats and a leather-wrapped steering wheel are stock fitted in the entry-spec Sport model with upgrades to dual-zone climate control, leather-trimmed seats and front-seat heating in the middle of the range.
The CX-5 is able to seat a total of five, there is ample head and legroom all around, although an adult in the rear centre seat won’t be able to stretch out or feel particularly comfortable on longer trips…

While the CX-5 scores less impressively than competitors do in the cargo space department, it’s not to say that the available trunk space is inadequate. Small items are well-catered for throughout the cabin, too, with a large centre console bin and a split-level tray under the lid(and a handy pass-through for charging cords should you stash your phone there.)

Every model now boasts a 10.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system, which replaces the old 7.0- inch display. Mazda Connect is the in-house infotainment software installed across the CX-5 range, which includes Bluetooth, hands-free, HD Radio, A four-speaker sound system is standard fair but gets upgraded to six speakers on the Touring trim, where both popular smartphone interfaces are catered for too.

Passive safety is covered by a full consignment of six airbags, including dual-front, front-side and side-curtain airbags with rollover protection.
ABS, stability control with traction control and a tire- pressure monitoring system are all standard across the board.
In terms of active assists, i-ACTIVSENSE includes cruise control, brake assist, hill launch control, automatic braking with pedestrian detection, collision warning, lane departure warning and lane keep assist, all fitted off the factory floor. The top-end Signature trim adds a surround-view camera additionally, as well as front and rear parking sensors, which can be optionally equipped to the lower-end trims.

There are five Mazda CX-5 models namely Sport, Touring, Grand Touring, Grand Touring Reserve and Signature.
It ranks with the Volkswagen Tiguan, Honda CRV, Toyota RAV4, Nissan Rogue, Mazda CX-3, Subaru Crosstrek, Subaru Outback etc…
