Toyota revisits the history of the Toyota 4Runner in 2023, which has evolved into a popular off-road vehicle among outdoor enthusiasts. The Toyota 4Runner has been the vehicle of choice for family vacations, off-road adventures, and lifelong experiences for over four decades. Not only that, but the predecessor is still going strong after 4 million global sales.
Toyota’s famed off-road racing lineage was founded with the original 4runner, which was based on the Toyota truck platform. As a homage to those early races, the off-40th roader’s anniversary edition will include some incredibly great retro-inspired yellow-orange-red body artwork.
The 40th-anniversary special edition Toyota 4Runner will be available in three colours: white, midnight black metallic, and Barcelona red metallic. The SR5 Premium grade will serve as the foundation. Bronze 17-inch alloy wheels are available, with a body colour that matches the Toyota heritage grill. It will be distinguished from the competitors by a bronze-coloured 40th-anniversary external tailgate logo. The most eye-catching feature is likely to be the legacy graphics package created specifically for this anniversary edition.
Inside, you’ll find a heated and ventilated eight-way power-adjustable driver’s seat with memory, as well as a four-way power-adjustable front passenger seat. A dual-zone automatic temperature control system is also offered for a pleasant experience. The low-grade standard front and rear clearance sonar system make parking manoeuvres easier and safer. In the precursor, the panoramic view monitor on the limited provides a 360-degree bird’s eye view to help drivers see items around the vehicle.
An 8.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system is standard on every 4Runner. The premium audio system is only available on the 2023 Toyota 4runner TRD Pro. This features 15 JBL speakers, a subwoofer, and an amplifier, as well as dynamic navigation, dynamic POI search, dynamic speech recognition, location assistance, remote connection, and WI-FI connectivity with up to 2 GB. The core of the 4runner’s inherent strength is it is a tough-as-nails body on the frame structure, which incorporates a 4-link rear axle and coil-spring suspension. Its great-riding quality is also supported by a sturdy chassis.
The Toyota 4Runner 2023 is equipped with a 270-horsepower DOHC 4.0-litre v6 engine. It has a peak torque of pounds-feet, which gives enough warmth for the preceding. The engine’s dual independent variable valve timing with intelligence VVTI helps to optimise torque throughout the operating range. When manually shifting is desired, this improves responsiveness in a wide range of driving conditions. A sequential shift mode is available on the 4runner’s five-speed ECTI automatic transmission. All four runner versions include an integrated tow hitch receiver and an electrical harness as standard, and they can tow up to 5,000 pounds.
