Recently, the next-generation Nissan x-trail was unveiled at the Shanghai motor show. Set to go on sale in Europe early this year, this large SUV will be powered by Nissan’s e-power hybrid power train. On debut, Nissan is giving the SUV a bold and chunky and new look with angular styling which is partly inspired by the latest Nissan Juke and Qashqai.
Not only that, notable from the front is narrow headlight units with daytime running lights for the first time along with a new v-motion grille. The rear end features is a little more similar look to the current model. However, the rear lights take on a shallow more angular shape and the rear end looks boxier than the x-trail you can buy now. The bumper gets a big silver insert and there’s a contrasting roof.
Nissan says the four-wheel-drive version will give the new x-trail rugged versatility thanks to improved off-road ability it’ll be configurable for terrain such as snow and gravel making it an easier car to manage in harsh Conditions. Thanks to the CMFC platform, which it shares with the brand’s latest Qashqai and is specifically designed to house the e-power hybrid power train.
The new x-trail will be available with the third row of seats offering the seven-seat capability for those with larger families. Inside the cabin will feature a more advanced kit including the introduction of more driver assistance features to ensure the x-trail is one of the leaders in its class.
The new x-trail features a large nine-inch touchscreen and digital display plus a head-up display. The seven-seat x-trail will come with plenty of high-tech features such as the Nissan pro pilot driver assistant system combining adaptive cruise control stop and go functionality and lane-keeping assist.
in terms of connectivity, the next-generation Nissan x-trail will likely come with android auto and wireless apple car-play as standard. The new 2022 Nissan Xtrail is powered by an electric motor paired with a 1.5-litre turbocharged engine. From this combination, the power train delivers 184 bhp and 330-newton meters of torque. This new setup ensures emissions are lowered and fuel consumption is increased Nissan says.
Nissan is yet to announce pricing for the new x-trail. However, given the new platform and the increase in technology on offer, expect the price tag to start at a slightly larger figure than the outgoing model which starts at 26835 pounds.
