In 2021, the BMW X5 M comes in three power trains where each of them is available with a different X5 model. The first one is the X5s that comes with an xdrive40i or a sdrive40i badge, both powered by an inline-six turbocharged engine that delivers 335 horsepower. The xDrive45e comes as a plugin hybrid model powered by an electric motor and a turbocharged inline-six engine, this combination delivers 389 horsepower. We cannot forget the high-performance model, the M50i which is powered by a 4.4 litre twin-turbo V8 engine that produces 523 horsepower. When it comes to claiming 0-60mph the 2021 BMW X5 M50i does it in less than four seconds. Additionally, all the X5 power-trains are paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission. The X5 provides pure performance leaving the driver totally satisfied when it comes to power and driving manners on the road.

Inside the BMW X5M  is spacious both in the first row and the second row. The x5s offers a third row which is practically for kids. A sense of pure luxury is felt thanks to the high-quality materials that make the cabin. The x5 comes with a power-adjustable front sits with memory for the driver which is standard. Additional features include a power-adjustable steering column, heated front seats, a panoramic sunroof, dual-zone automatic climate control, a power rear door, rain-sensing windshield wipers, and customizable ambient lighting. Massaging seats, remote start, soft-close doors, acoustic glass, a leather dashboard, and heated front armrests and steering wheel. When it comes to the cargo space the X5 provides plenty of it and even more when the rear sits are folded.

When it comes to infotainment, the 2021 X5  offers a twin 12.3-inch display screen. Apple car-play and android auto are standard. One of them serves as a digital gauge display while the other provides infotainment access. You can either control the infotainment system using gestures, touchscreen or using a centre console rotary knob.

Charging, Battery life and range

The 2021 BMW X5M plugin hybrid model comes with a 24kwh battery. Amazingly it only takes only 2 and a half hours to fully charge. The battery pack charges at home on a 110 volt and at 220 volts in public charging points. According to BMW, the xdrive45e battery is enough to drive 30 miles and travel up to 84mph on electric power only.

 

Safety and driver assistance features

The 2021 BMW X5M is well equipped when it comes to providing safety. Standard driver assistance features are what you get in the X5 while other features include automated emergency braking. Optionally, the X5 also offers a semi-autonomous driving mode. Key safety features include;  automated emergency braking with pedestrian detection,  lane-departure warning, blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert where all come as standard
