At the Tokyo Auto Salon, Toyota recently debuted the new GR Yaris. Its three-door compact hatch is equipped with all the room you need for all your plans and is full of safety, style, and intelligence. The GR Yaris’ performance qualities take it to a whole new level and prevent it from being considered simply another ordinary hot hatch.
The hot hatch is actually touted to go head-to-head with cars that are just intended for performance, including the Renault Megane RS, VW Golf R, and Honda Civic Type R.
Toyota Yaris GR Engine and performance
The three-door GR Yaris is powered by a 1.6-litre, three-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine. The three pots create an impressive 200 kW and 370 NM of torque, which is distributed evenly to all four wheels. Surprisingly, this is the maximum output for a three-cylinder engine. Toyota claims that this ultimate hot hatch can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 5.5 seconds, with a top speed of 230 km/h.
A six-speed manual transmission is standard on the Yaris GR. Surprisingly, the Toyota Yaris all-wheel-drive system includes a Torsen limited-slip differential on each axle, as well as an electronically controlled multi-plate clutch centre differential. The all-wheel-drive system has three driving modes: standard, sport, and track.
Toyota Gazoo Racing designed the new GR Yaris with optimized front and rear suspension geometry to meet the needs of consumers on all types of roads.

Surprisingly, the Yaris body is only available in three colors: white, red, and black. Except for the carbon fiber roof, the paintwork covers the ultimate hot hatch’s aluminum bonnet, doors, and tailgate.
The ultimate hot hatch is outfitted with 18-inch alloy wheels wrapped in 225/R40 tires and framed by vented brake discs. Performance brakes are offered for the GR, with 356mm front and 297mm rear vented discs mated to four and two-piston calipers.

Stepping inside, Keyless entry and start are standard on the newly announced Toyota Yaris GR. Every Yaris hot hatch comes with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto capability, as well as an eight-speaker JBL sound system. Toyota has also installed climate control, sports seats, and aluminum pedals.

The base Toyota Yaris GR price starts at $36,995. The Circuit version, which includes enhancements like front and rear limited slip differentials and a carbon-fiber roof, will be available later for $43,995. Toyota intends to construct 1,500 of them and sell them for a single model year. The Morizo Edition costs the most, at $50,995.
