The Subaru WRX has been around for a while, and because of its usefulness and athleticism, it is considered to be a particularly fantastic automobile. The 2023 Subaru WRX features a more potent powertrain in addition to providing nothing less than fantastic handling and driving. Also, unlike the majority of compact cars, the current generation has an all-wheel-drive system as standard.
Subaru WRX Exterior
The Subaru WRX has an aggressive outward style that is influenced by rally cars. It boasts a fearsome front grille and squinty LED headlights that give it a more aggressive appearance from the front. The flared fenders with functional air vents and hexagonal wheel arches give it an even more athletic stance.
The WRX wagon rides on narrower, less aggressive Yokohama Blue Earth GT 225/45/18 tyres. The sedan rides on considerably superior Dunlop SP Sport Maxx 245/40/18 tread, in keeping with its more intentful nature. As a result, the wagon’s front (1550mm versus 1560mm) and rear (1550mm vs 1560mm) tracks are narrower (1545mm vs 1570mm).
Subaru WRX Interior
The Subaru WRX offers a sporty, roomy interior that is filled with cutting-edge technology and high-quality materials. The dashboard has a dual-zone temperature control button, an 11.6-inch touchscreen, and volume knobs. Other options include power-adjustable seats and a steering wheel with a flat bottom. Also available is the wrx badging with red stitching, which improves the mood within the cabin. Three top-tether hooks, ISOFIX child seat anchor points in the outboard seats, and movable air vents are all standard. Heated seats and rear USB ports are options in the top-spec models.
Engine power and transmission
The 2022 Subaru WRX is powered by a 2.4-litre, four-cylinder boxer petrol engine with turbocharging. The engine generates 350NM of torque and 202 kW of power. This is a 5kw increase over the power that the previous model offered. For sedans and wagons, the 2022 Subaru WRX has a six-speed manual transmission as an option. Subaru claims that the CVT enables quicker gear changes than previously and also offers a downshift blipping control. Moreover, Subaru offers program eight “ratios” that you can switch between by using the paddle shifters.
The new Subaru WRX, however, retains the symmetrical all-wheel-drive system that helps distribute power to all four wheels. The manual variants come with a locking centre differential and a viscous limited-slip diff. There are CVT model variations with active torque vectoring systems available.
On fuel consumption and economy, the Subaru wrx is rated at 9.9 litres / 100km for the manuals and 8.5 litres for the CVT models.
