KIA Xceed Exterior

In terms of exterior styling, The Kia Xceed receives new taillights with a multitude of hexagonal components reserved for the GT-line trim level, along with the redesigned corporate emblem. Additionally, it boasts a “discreet exhaust-look design,” which is really a marketing term for false exhaust tips. The new front bumper and sharper-looking headlights are carried over from the hatch, while the plastic body cladding gives the side profile a little more rugged appearance.

The 2023 Xceed has the same height advantage over the XCeed hatchback of 44 millimetres (1.73 inches), and it has a ground clearance of 184 millimetres (7.2 inches) with the optional 18-inch wheels or 172 millimetres (6.7 inches) with the 16-inch set that comes standard. The front and rear overhangs are both extended by 25 mm (1 in) and 60 mm (2.3 in), despite the wheelbase (2,605 mm / 102.5 in) being the same. Only the front doors of the two versions are similar to those of the standard five-door hatchback.

Kia Xceed Interior

Stepping inside, the Kia Xceed GT-Line sports sportier seats, a flat-bottomed steering wheel, a black headliner, and alloy pedals, the interior is more or less the same. A red “GT” badge with a smaller white “Line” badge is mounted on the bottom spoke of the steering wheel by Kia. The gear knob is covered in perforated leather. The frameless rearview mirror, a glossy black panel for the transmission tunnel, and the choice of a 12.3-inch completely digital instrument cluster with full HD resolution are other upgrades.

Engine power and transmission

The new Kia Xceed comes with three powerplant options. The first engine option is a turbocharged 1.0-litre three-cylinder with 118 horsepower and 172 Nm of torque (127 lb-ft). The other one is a 1.5-litre engine that produces 158 horsepower and 253 Nm (187 lb-ft). The third one is a 1.6-litre engine from the Ceed GT and ProCeed GT produces 201 hp and 265 Nm (195 lb-ft). The crossover accelerates to 62 mph (100 km/h) in 7.5 seconds with the latter engine and a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.

Kia will also sell the Xceed with a mild-hybrid 1.6-diesel engine rated at 134 horsepower and 280 Nm (207 lb-ft) with the six-speed manual, and 320 Nm with the seven-speed DCT (236 lb-ft). This 48-volt technology reduces CO2 emissions by up to 10% and allows the car to briefly coast at speeds of up to 77 mph (125 km/h).

The plug-in hybrid will once again be the most fuel-efficient powertrain, with a 1.6-litre gasoline engine, a 44.5-kW electric motor, a six-speed dual-clutch transmission, and an 8.9-kWh lithium-ion battery pack. The Xceed PHEV has a combined output of 139 horsepower and 265 Nm (195 lb-ft) and can go 37 miles (60 kilometres) on electric power alone
