From the BMW M1 in the late 1970s, now BMW’s performance M division unveiled the all-new BMW XM SUV. the first standalone M model with an electrified powertrain, and the second standalone M vehicle. The XM SUV, created by the M division, is still only a concept. However, it will go into flagship production in 2023 which also marks the 50TH Anniversary of the BMW M sub-brand. The new XM competes with other high-performance SUVs like the Porsche Cayenne Turbo S E-Hybrid and Lamborghini Urus. here is everything you need to know about the new BMW XM.
BMW XM Exterior Styling
On the exterior, the BMW XM has a commanding appearance from the front. This is brought by a new horizontal kidney grille and slimline headlights. The BMW XM also has a sculpted bonnet, large front air intakes, and black grille elements. Not only that, but the XM’s kidney grille appears to float, thanks to a darkened lower styling feature beneath the grille.
Straight to the rear end, a lot of cool features are all you get such as the vertically placed twin exhaust pipes and slimline l-shaped taillights.
BMW XM Interior
Inside, the BMW XM interior features a spacious posh cabin full of quality materials and modern tech features. Vintage brown leather, carbon fibre and copper elements make up the luxurious interior. Also, the XM has a spacious second row with quilted velvet seats that can be transformed into a luxurious lounge.
Engine, power and performance
Under the hood, the XM packs a 4.4-litre V8 petrol engine. The v8 engine is also paired with a plugin hybrid system where this combination delivers 550kw and 1000 NM of torque. However, BMW hasn’t revealed the actual acceleration performance figures yet. But we expect with the SUV having such an amount of power it should do zero to sixty in very few seconds.
Infotainment Features and Connectivity
On the dash is a large curved rectangular display that stretches from the digital gauge cluster to the passenger grab handle. this display features the digital cluster gauge as well as the infotainment system. The familiar BMW iDrive rotary controller can be found directly to the right of the shift lever. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are expected to be standard, as well as SiriusXM satellite radio, a Wi-Fi hotspot, and a premium audio system.
