2024 Toyota Hilux GR sport Gets rugged looks

Featuring Dakar-inspired exterior styling, Toyota has launched the all-new 2023 Toyota Hilux GR sport in Australia. It is the fourth different GR sports variant with others available in markets such as Thailand, Japan, and Europe. All four variants have different kinds of looks and suspension upgrades. This new Hilux comes with a more powerful engine, modified Chasis, improved handling, and better off-road capabilities. However, this Australian variant combines all these upgrades with the newly tuned engine making it more powerful than the other three GR sport variants we have come across.

Hilux GR sport Exterior styling

From the Exterior looks this Australian version of the GR sport looks more rugged and aggressive compared to the other versions in other markets. This is in consideration it’s a Hilux straight from the factory. The new 2023 GR sports body is only available as a double cab style which packs a custom body kit inspired by the Dakar competing rally cars.

This 2023 Toyota GR sport comes with new satin black fender extensions which are wider compared to the other trims in other markets. on the front end, the truck gets a redesigned front bumper with sculpted intakes. A black-finished grille and an aluminum-styled skid plate are also available. Not only that, This Australian variant comes with GR sport badges, rock rails, and a new set of black 17-inch alloy ls with all-terrain tires.

Stepping inside, the new 2023  Toyota Hilux GR sport gets a couple of upgrades though not a lot compared to the exterior. This starts from leather upholstery, Gazoo racing branding on the headrests, steering wheel, red seatbelts, and sports pedals.

In terms of infotainment and connectivity, the truck gets the same touchscreen display.

Engine, power, and Transmission

Under the bonnet, this Australian Toyota Hilux GR is powered by a tuned 2.8-liter four-cylinder diesel engine. this tuned powertrain now produces 221 horsepower and 550 NM  of torque which has been achieved from a revised turbo supercharging and fuel injection control. In comparison to the normal engine, the tuned engine produces 10% more power.

Unfortunately, the Hilux GR sport in other markets has not gotten any attention nor even engine upgrades. It is still powered by the factory powertrain producing 201 hp and 500 NM of torque. A  tweaked automatic gearbox drives power equally to four wheels with the help of Toyota’s 4WD system.

Hilux GR sport Pricing

Set to arrive in dealerships in the second half of 2023 the Hilux GR sport pricing wasn’t revealed. However, from the upgrades, we expect the new will hit the $70000 mark.
