When the Volkswagen Touareg III made its debut in March 2018, the Tayron was unveiled as a concept car that was close to production under the name VW Advanced Midsize SUV. In September 2018, Volkswagen officially unveiled the production model at the Chengdu Motor Show.
Official consumer meetings for the new FAW Volkswagen Tayron family were held. On August 23, the automobile was formally unveiled. Three variants of the new FAW Volkswagen Tayron family will be available: the Tayron, Tayron X, and Tayron GTE. The redesigned Tayron has updated details and embraces the official Luigi design language from an aesthetic standpoint.
Volkswagen Tayron Exterior
The front grille’s design has also undergone a considerable alteration on the outside. The headlamp group’s internal light source differs from the front as well. Better interior design and a more cohesive visual result characterize the grille.
The new car’s back end features the in-vogue thru-type tail lights. The lighting system on the new Tayron has also been improved with the use of a glowing logo and turn signals that are powered by running water. The general look is more in the electric and futuristic direction.
Volkswagen Tayron features
The new Tayron family is equipped with a big sunroof, reversing camera, and radar as standard equipment. The high-end vehicles also come with a Harman Kardon music system, 30 colour-adjustable interior mood lights, and an IQ point 360 panoramic visual parking system as you move up the trim levels.

Engine, power and Transmission
The new Tayron will have 2.0 litre and 1.4-litre turbocharged inline-six engines, respectively, for increased power. 150, 186, and 220 horsepower are the maximum outputs of this engine, respectively. A seven-speed dual-clutch transmission is used in conjunction with the drivetrain.
A variety of 2.0-litre TSI engines will be available for the new Tayron x. Both are claimed to have a maximum output of 186 and 220 horsepower, respectively. the Tayron GTE’s plug-in hybrid drivetrain, which consists of a 1.4-litre TSI engine and an electric motor, is powered by a PHEV system.
