KIA has updated its worldly popular SUV, KIA telluride for 2023. The SUV now has a slightly revised exterior styling, enhanced drive assistance features, new tech and two new rugged appearing trim levels. With its good looks, roomy cabin and a long list of tech features, the KIA telluride is one of our favourite three-row SUVs. Now, KIA has added more off-road credibility to its mid-sized SUV along with a few other upgrades for the 2023 model year debuting at the new york auto show.
KIA adds X-Line and X-Pro model Trims
The 2023 Kia telluride adds new x-line and x-pro trims. The x-line has a 0.4 inch higher ride height resulting in very slightly improved approach and departure angles. It also comes with new roof rails, unique 20-inch wheels, and revised traction control settings. A towing mode that alters the transmission’s shift logic and incorporates trailer sway control is also available.
The 2023 Kia telluride x-pro offers a bit more off-road capability, thanks to its smaller 18-inch wheels and continental all-terrain tires. in addition to the aforementioned increased ground clearance, the x-pro also has a slightly higher tow rating of 5500 pounds versus 5000 in the standard telluride.

On the exterior, KIA replaces its headlights orange rectangle lighting element with twin spotlights and vertical bars. The lower fascia is redesigned and the leading edge of the hood loses its telluride lettering. The rear appearance and lower bodyside moulding have also been tweaked.

Stepping Inside, a new digital instrument cluster is the first change to note. It features a larger 12.3 inches infotainment screen. The head-up display also is larger and can show more info. Fortunately, KIA has retained much of the centre stack which still features physical buttons. These buttons operate much of the climate control system and quickly access major touchscreen functions. Also retained, are knobs for volume tuning and temperature as well as a real shift lever. A new steering wheel and air vents haven’t been left out in the upgrade.
Engine, power and Transmission
Under the hood, the 2023 KIA telluride uses the familiar Kia’s 3.8 litres naturally aspirated v6 engine. This engine delivers 291 horsepower and 262 pound-feet of torque. An 8-speed automatic transmission comes as standard. However, buyers can choose between front and all-wheel-drive configurations.
Safety and driver assistance features
The standard highway driving assists semi-autonomous adaptive cruise control can now be upgraded to HDA2 which adds lane change functionality. Also, the standard speed limit recognition system can automatically adjust the cruise control set speed when the speed limit changes. Not only that, the forward collision avoidance system now watches for oncoming traffic when making a left turn. Additionally, it can break to avoid cross traffic in an intersection or break and steer when it detects an oncoming vehicle during a two-lane pass. it’s also better able to watch out for pedestrians and cyclists also. On the tech front, is a new available digital key functionality that requires an iPhone Samsung galaxy android or apple watch.
