For almost a decade, we have always gotten hints of a new next-generation GTR sports car from Nissan. The carmaker has even gone further and showed its fans a concept 2020 vision gran Turismo, which was actually designed for a video game series. Now in 2021, after a long wait, Nissan has finally revealed the next 2022 Nissan GT-R iconic supercar. It comes in five model variants, which include two special edition variants a new T-spec and Nismo SV.
Unfortunately, the 2022 Nissan GT-R supercar is the final edition in the GTR line-up. Nissan decided to add the new GTR T-spec and Nismo SV edition to farewell the icon as it marks the end of the road.
2022 Nissan GT-R Engine
Under the hood, all versions of the 2022 Nissan GT-R pack a 3.8-litre twin-turbocharged V6 petrol engine. Surprisingly, when it comes to the output it’s different depending on the model trim.
For both the Nismo variants, the turbocharged v6 engine delivers an output of 441kw and 652nm of torque. In the premium, premium luxury and T-spec versions, the VR38DETT engine is tuned to deliver only 419kw and 632NM of torque.
2022 GT-R specs and features
Stepping inside The GT-R interior, leather-accented seats, heated front seats, an 8.0-inch multimedia touchscreen with satellite navigation, 11-speaker Bose sound system and push-button start is all you get as standard.
However, The Nismo SV is the leader in the GTR Squad. It packs almost all the performance specs. This starts from the hood, the Nismo SV has a clear-coated carbon-fibre bonnet that reduces its weight by 100kgs. An interior with a red accent and Alcantara steering wheel is all you get inside. It also has carbon fibre on the boot, both rear and front bumpers, and rear spoilers. To make it the ruler in the crew, the Nismo SV packs 410/390 mm front and back Brembo brakes with carbon-ceramic, unique 20-inch Rays aluminium forged wheels with red detailing.
For the Premium Luxury version a unique semi-aniline leather on the seats, steering wheel, gear shifter, dashboard and door trims are available.
Last but not least, the 2022 Nissan GT-R T-spec version is like a combo of both the Nismo and the premium versions and is also available in two iconic exterior colours – Millennium Jade and Midnight Purple. Its uniqueness also starts from having larger brakes and a carbon-fibre spoiler all the way to its gold-coloured 20-inch wheels, dark green interior and quilt-stitched Alcantara roof lining.
