The 2023 Mitsubishi Outlander has been revealed, and it looks fantastic. It takes the place of an SUV that felt dated even when it debuted in 2012. The next-generation Outlander crossover also benefits from Mitsubishi’s fledgling partnership with Nissan, as evidenced by the spreadsheet. The powertrain, wheelbase, and several interior components are shared with the Nissan Rogue 2021. Since 2016, Mitsubishi has collaborated with Nissan and Renault. Being a part of this international automotive coalition provides the company with access to a variety of cool things, such as platforms and technology.

As a result, the new Outlander is essentially a Nissan Rogue underneath. The two vehicles share the same powertrain and dimensions, but they are not exact replicas. The 2023 Outlander tuning is completely unique, with unique interior materials. Another significant distinction is the country of origin; the Outlander is assembled in Japan, whereas the Rogue is assembled in Tennessee.

Mitsubishi outlander Exterior

The Engelberg tourer concept inspired the design of the 2023 Mitsubishi Outlander. though it has been somewhat toned down for series production. The split headlight arrangement, however, remains, giving the Outlander a distinct appearance. The daytime running lights and turn signals are provided by a thin LED mounted on the roof. The LED fog lights, as well as high and low beams, are housed in a three-zone lighting element mounted low on the bumper. According to the company, the C-shaped chrome strips on either side of the grill are meant to resemble the brush guards found on an old Monterey SUV. The lower opening of the bumper pays homage to the Lancer Evolution X.

The new Outlander is far more stylish than its predecessor. The side profile of the Engelberg tourer is largely carried over to the new outlander, with available 20-inch wheels and bulging front and rear wheel arches imparting a planted rally raider stance. The rearview mirror has crisp thin taillights that echo the front driving lights, as well as a bulging hexagon on the hatch skin, which Mitsubishi claims is meant to resemble the external spare tires of its previous SUVs.

Interior and infotainment features

Thanks to a little help from Nissan, the 2023 Mitsubishi outlander comes packed with serious tech upgrades compared to the last generation model. A fully digital 12.3-inch instrument cluster is available. a 7.0-inch display between two analogue gauges is standard. Not only that on its options list is a 9.0-inch touchscreen and an 8.0-inch unit is standard. a head-up display is also available.

The standard engine is a 2.5 litre naturally aspirated inline four-cylinder engine with 181 horsepower and 181 pound-foot of torque. Front-wheel drive is standard, but a multi-mode AWD system is available. The city mileage is 24 miles per gallon, and the highway mileage is 30 to 31 miles per gallon.

Safety and driver assistance features

The 2023 Mitsubishi Outlander has more standard safety features than its predecessor. All of them make use of a rebranded Nissan technology called mi Pilot Assist. Driver fatigue on the highway is reduced by adaptive cruise control and lane-keeping assist. It also provides some traffic jam assistance, bringing the Outlander to a halt in heavy traffic and accelerating if the vehicle has been stopped for less than thirty seconds. Traffic sign recognition, automatic high beams, predictive forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, blind-spot warning, and lane departure intervention round out the long list of driver-assist technology.
