The competition in the luxury subcompact SUV segment is becoming increasingly fierce. Lexus recently introduced the 2022 Lexus NX into the market. Despite sharing the same chassis and powertrains as the Toyota Rav 4, the new NX is entirely new, with more aggressive styling than its predecessor. The new Nx also comes with a variety of engine options. It progresses from two distinct gasoline engines to two hybrid power trains, one of which is a plugin hybrid. The new NX competes against the Audi Q3, BMW X1, and Mercedes Benz GLA classes. Let’s take a closer look at the new Lexus Nx 2022:
Engine, Power, and transmission
Only two petrol engines were available in the previous generation of Lexus NX engine options. The new generation will have four powertrain options starting in 2022. The Lexus NX250 is the entry-level model, powered by a 2.5-liter four-cylinder petrol engine. This engine produces 203 horsepower, which is 20 percent more than the previous generation.
The Lexus NX350 is powered by a 2.4-liter turbocharged engine that produces 275hp. Both engines are paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission. The base model NX 250 is available with either front or all-wheel drive, while the NX350 comes standard with all-wheel drive.
The Lexus NX family will be available with two hybrid powertrains in 2022. The NX350h is the new hybrid model, and it is powered by a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine paired with two electric motors. The hybrid powertrain produces 239 hp as a result of the combination.
The fourth model is the NX 450h+, which is equipped with the same 302 hp plugin hybrid powertrain as the Rav 4 prime. Both hybrid models come standard with all-wheel drive.
Interior
The 20200 Lexus Nx features a modern cabin full of quality and good-looking materials. Plenty of passenger room is available however the new NX provides a small cargo space than the previous model even with the back seats folded.
Other features include a panoramic sunroof, heated rear seats, an ambient interior lighting system with 64 different color choices, and black open-pore wood trim.
Infotainment and connectivity features
Talking of infotainment, the base models feature a 9.8-inch touchscreen while the top range models pack a 14-inch. The infotainment system is available with both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto which are standard. the wireless smartphone charging pad is optional as is a head-up display. A 10-speaker stereo system is standard and comes with a free trial of Amazon Music; a 17-speaker Mark Levinson stereo system is optional on models equipped with the Premium or Luxury packages.
Safety and Driver-Assistance Features
All models of the 2022 Lexus Nx come standard with standard safety and driver assistance features. This includes features such as automated emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, and lane-keeping assistance.
2022 Lexus NX price
The starting price of the 2022 Lexus NX 250 is $39,425 and is among the lowest in the class. The turbocharged NX 350 model costs $43,025 more, while the NX 350 F Sport costs $48,125 more. The NX sits between the smaller UX ($34,525) and the larger RX ($46,995) in Lexus’ crossover SUV lineup.
