The all-new 2025 Nissan Patrol has been revealed, featuring a great push towards a more premium design and improved features. New to the world in Abu Dhabi, this latest version of the iconic SUV sets new standards in the segment, crossing luxury, power, and technological frontiers.
V6 Engines Replace the V8
Nissan has replaced its V8 engine with two V6 options. A basic 3.8-liter naturally aspirated V6 engine with 236kW of power and 386Nm of torque is available. It is likely that this engine won’t be available in Australia. An Australian 3.5-litre twin-turbocharged V6 engine with 317kW of power and 700Nm of torque is set to replace it. Strong performance is ensured for both on- and off-road use with a Jatco nine-speed automatic transmission and a full-time four-wheel-drive system mated to it.
Technology and Features
The 2025 Nissan Patrol is not all about power; it’s packed full of innovative technology. The first-in-class biometric climate control is one such feature. It measures the skin temperature of occupants in all three rows of seating using infrared sensors, automatically adjusting the intensity of air conditioning to be just right for each—a feature especially useful in hot climates like those found in the Middle East and Australia.
Inside, the Patrol gets dual 14.3-inch displays placed together to form one 28.6-inch screen that functions as the digital instrument cluster and infotainment touchscreen. The system also has Google services, including the possibility to have Google Maps in full view directly in front of the driver, and Google Assistant with cloud-based voice recognition.
Off-Road Capability
Nissan has taken great care to ensure that the Patrol doesn’t lose its original go-anywhere capability. The SUV also benefits from a full-time four-wheel-drive system with selectable Rock, Sand, Mud, Standard, Eco, and Sport drive modes. Further, a rear differential lock switchable between 4H and 4L is included.
This new air suspension now allows variation in the ride height by up to 70 mm for increased ability over challenging terrains. This includes improved approach and departure angles, plus a front-mounted camera that allows vision at intersections with a 170-degree field of view. Nissan has not altered the GVM for the Patrol, but it is still positioned at 3500kg. However, the increased mass necessarily lowers the payload.
Premium Interior
The interior of the 2025 Patrol has been designed with luxury in mind. Inflatable massage seats only increase comfort, while an advanced infotainment system keeps everyone connected on the move. The overall design and materials of the cabin push the Patrol closer to premium rivals like the Range Rover.
Pricing
Nissan is still reserved with information about the price of the 2025 Patrol. Following the advancements in design, technology, and performance features, this new model should be more expensive than its predecessor, though not by much, making it competitive with other luxury SUVs in its class.
Towing Capacity
The towing capacity is expected to keep the current model’s 3500kg braked towing capacity. The U.S.-spec version, called the Armada, will at least have a 3500kg braked towing capacity.
