2025 Audi Q6 Sportback E-Tron Review

Audi has officially released the US specifications for the upcoming Q6 Sportback E-Tron. Notably, it will only be available in all-wheel drive and with the larger battery pack in the US market. The estimated range is an impressive 300 miles. The regular Q6 will offer 422 hp (456 hp peak), while the high-performance SQ6 is 483 hp (509 hp peak). The vehicle is expected to hit US dealerships by spring or summer next year, with further details to be disclosed closer to its launch date.

The Evolution of Coupe-Like Electric SUVs

The concept of SUVs styled like coupes was first introduced by BMW with the original X6. Since then, this niche has expanded into the electric vehicle market. Audi already has two models in this category: the Q4 Sportback E-Tron and the Q8 Sportback E-Tron. For the 2024 Paris Motor Show, Audi has prepared to showcase the Q6 E-Tron Sportback, a new middle-child model in its electric SUV lineup.

A Sleeker Design

The Q6 E-Tron Sportback is a sleeker version of the 2025 Q6 E-Tron, which shares a platform with the new Porsche Macan. The Sportback’s roofline is nearly 1.5 inches lower than the regular Q6, contributing to improved aerodynamics. The more streamlined roof has reduced the drag coefficient from 0.28 to 0.26.

Audi has likened the Q6 Sportback’s design to the first-generation TT Coupe, though the resemblance may be hard to spot due to the much bulkier body of the Q6.

Exterior

Like other Audi models on the Premium Platform Electric architecture, the Q6 Sportback E-Tron features split headlights, a growing trend in the brand’s design language. Visually, the Q6 Sportback is quite similar to the smaller Q4 Sportback E-Tron, though some may wish for more distinct differences. Additionally, the gas-powered Q5 Sportback won’t deviate much from this design approach either.

A Familiar Interior

Inside, the interior of the Q6 Sportback mirrors that of the standard Q6 E-Tron. It features a triple-screen setup, including a 14.5-inch infotainment system, an 11.9-inch driver’s display, and a 10.9-inch passenger screen. Optional features like a head-up display with augmented reality technology further enhance the driving experience. Minimal physical controls maintain a sleek, modern cabin design.

Cargo Space

The sloped roofline does slightly impact the cargo capacity, though not significantly. With the rear seats up, the Q6 Sportback offers 511 litres of cargo space, expanding to 1,373 litres when the rear bench is folded down. A 64-litre front trunk, or “frunk,” provides additional storage, along with 25 litres of extra space scattered throughout the cabin.

Multiple Versions and Battery Options

The Q6 Sportback E-Tron will come in several configurations, with both rear-wheel-drive and Quattro all-wheel-drive options. Two battery sizes are available: a 75.8 kWh pack and a larger 94.9 kWh version. The top-tier SQ6 model comes exclusively with a larger battery and dual motors, delivering 483 hp for a 0-60 mph time of just 4.3 seconds.

For those seeking maximum range, the rear-wheel-drive Q6 Sportback E-Tron Performance offers a potential range of up to 408 miles on a single charge, thanks to the 94.9 kWh battery. The base rear-wheel-drive model produces 248 hp and takes 7 seconds to reach 60 mph, while the Q6 Sportback E-Tron Performance, with 302 hp, can hit the same speed in 6.6 seconds.

Charging and Performance Features

Charging the Q6 Sportback E-Tron is a breeze, with support for up to 270 kW fast charging. It takes just 22 minutes to charge the battery from 10% to 80%. A 10-minute stop at a fast charger can add up to 165 miles of range. The advanced 800-volt electrical system and adaptive air suspension contribute to a smooth driving experience, distinguishing the Q6 from its more basic sibling, the Q4 E-Tron Sportback.

Premium Audio and Technology

The Q6 boasts a Bang & Olufsen sound system with 20 speakers, including four mounted in the front headrests, adding to the luxury feel of the interior. This upscale sound system complements the tech-laden cabin and provides an immersive audio experience.

Availability

After its debut at the 2024 Paris Motor Show, the Audi Q6 Sportback E-Tron is expected to go on sale in Europe later this year or in early 2025. Specifications for the US market, apart from the general information already shared, are yet to be fully revealed.
