Volkswagen thinks it needs additional SUV options in China for some reason. Unexpectedly, the new Talagon, a creation of the FAW Volkswagen joint venture, has arrived. The SMD idea, which was unveiled two years ago, served as the new model’s initial preview. The final result commands a vast footprint, measuring 5152 millimetres long by 2002 millimetres wide and 1795 millimetres tall, with a wheelbase that measures 2 980 millimetres, precisely like that display car.
The new Talagon has a wheelbase that is the same but is 112 millimetres longer, 12 millimetres wider, and 15 millimetres taller than the Teramont atlas that is offered in China. The Talagon is the largest MQB-based SUV produced by the Volkswagen group and was developed locally by the joint venture VW FAW in China. a platform that supports vehicles as tiny as the Audi A1, Seat Ibiza, and VW Polo Trio in its MQB AO version. The MQB Evo architecture supports the three-row SUV, which has a choice of six or seven seats.
When you step inside, you’ll find a dashboard layout that is reminiscent of the one in the Volkwagen golf with a digital instrument cluster. It is placed next to a touchscreen infotainment system that gets its own frame. Below both screens is a full-width trim piece that integrates the air vents. at the same time, the centre console has a raised platform to bring the gear selector and other controls closer to the driver. This also allows for an expansive cubby to be placed near the base of the platform just a hit of an armrest that provides even more storage. The rear of the centre console houses events for the second-row passengers that get their own climate controls with air vents on the B and C pillars.
Under the hood, the Volkswagen Talagon will feature several powertrain options. Starting from the top range-topping variant, a 2.5-litre turbocharged V6 engine will be available to power out 295 HP and 500 newton-meters of torque. Power is distributed to all four wheels through a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.
